According to an email from Interim Head of School Jim Ventre ’79, the 2020-21 school year will begin in September and end in June as normal. Students will remain off campus from Thanksgiving break until January 2021 in order to reduce travel and risk of infection during the holiday season.
Andover will pursue a “remote first” academic program, meaning that remote learning will be favored if necessary. Faculty are training to develop curricula and support students remotely in the event of online classes.
Students may opt to stay home during the year and complete their courses online.
According to Ventre, the administration will provide further information regarding Fall Term in early July.
Ventre wrote, “We are working with our leadership team and trustees across several working groups to develop a robust plan for the coming school year. Our highest priority continues to be assuring the health and safety of our community.”
