Girls Swimming Victorious in All 11 Events; 200 Medley Relay Win Jumpstarts PA

| Andover | 99.5 |
| Deerfield | 78.5 |

The relay team of Veronica Faller ’09, Salena Casha ’09, Annie Glancy ’09 and Erika Roddy ’07 started Andover off strong, as it won the 200 Medley relay in a time of 1:56.91. Despite the unusual line-up, the Girls’ Swimming and Diving team won all eleven events on Saturday for its first home meet of the season against Deerfield Academy, winning 99.5-78.5. With an exciting start to the meet, the team took first, second, and third in the 200 Medley Relay. Though the 200 Freestyle is not Casha’s usual event, she swam really well winning in 2:01.12 and was closely followed by Captain Carly Villareal ’07 who swam a season best of 2:03.14 tying exactly with a Deerfield competitor for second. Glancy also won the 200 Individual Medley with a best time of 2:20.06. She was followed by teammate Aubrey Zimmerling ’09 who also swam a season best in 2:25.97. In the last leg, Roddy won in 26.10, only .05 seconds slower than her best time this season. Next came the 100 Freestyle where Andover took 1-2-3, and each swimmer also had season bests. Though not a contender in the event Glancy won the race in 57.28 and was followed by Mai Kristofferson ’09 and Stephanie Moroney ’09 who swam in 58.61 and 58.93, respectively. Freshman Celia Lewis, who swam a memorable best time last weekend against Northfield Mount Hermon and Milton Academy, continued her success in the 500 Freestyle with yet another season best, this time coming in at 5:28.72. Captain Villareal, who also swam a season best in 5:33.77, four seconds faster than she swam previously, closely followed Lewis. Andover also dominated the 200 Freestyle relay taking both first and third with the winning team of Roddy, Kristofferson, Villareal, and Moroney swimming in 1:47.16. Despite the missing presence of Veronica Faller ’09 in 100 Backstroke, Roddy claimed victory in the event with an outstanding time of 1:04.23, and was closely followed by Kelly Chang ’07 who swam a season best in 1:09.63. Tina Kit ’09 swam remarkably well in the 100 Breaststroke with the win in a time of 1:15.81.
