In the first event of Andover’s match-up against Deerfield last Saturday, Theresa Faller ’11, Allie Hall ’10, Captain Annie Glancy ’09 and Alanna Waldman ’10 won the 200 Medley by a dominating six seconds in a time of 1.56.71, setting the pace for the meet as Andover easily swam away with an overall 99.5-81.5 victory. The contest with Deerfield was the fourth meet of the season for Andover, and the win helped the team cruise to a perfect 4-0 record. Molly Levene ’12, Emily Timm ’11 and Lexi Moroney ’11 swam a rigorous race in the 200 Freestyle following the opening event, and Levene finished strong with a time of 2.05.08 to finish second place. The meet was full of personal bests for Andover, showing the consistent improvements made by individual swimmers so far this season. In the 200 Individual Medley, Glancy locked first place with a personal best of 2.20.39. Tina Kit ’09 also swam a personal best with a time of 2.26.94. Peyton Morss ’10, swimming the 50 Freestyle, touched only hundredths of a second behind a Deerfield swimmer to receive second place, but recorded a personal best 25.66 seconds. Both Mai Kristofferson ’09 and Kerry Lanzo ’11 swam well and placed fourth and fifth, respectively. With a break from swimming, the diving competition began with Kendall MacRae ’11, Emily Johnson ’10 and Whitney Glick ’11 diving for Andover. After performing six dives, MacRae placed first with 230.75 points, Johnson second with 197.45 points and Glick fifth with 160.1 points. Andover also claimed the top three spots in the 100 Butterfly, as Glancy took first with a time of 102.38, Julia Torabi ’12 second and Waldman third. In the 100 Freestyle, Morss took second with a time of 56.55. The race was close between Morss and Pielock, the Deerfield opponent who won the event, but the finish only motivated Morss further. “I know that if I continue to work hard in practice, I can lower my 100 Free time by interscholastics and hopefully beat Pielock,” Morss said.
