User Policy

The commenting service offered on phillipian.net is an opportunity to promote constructive discussion and exchange valuable ideas regarding content published by The Phillipian.

The Phillipian requires that all users who wish to post a comment on phillipian.net create an account with their full names and e-mail addresses through Disqus, the posting service used on phillipian.net, and also verify the e-mail address for their account. Only posts authored by users with verified Disqus accounts that display their full names, or first initial with last name, will be published on phillipian.net.

The Phillipian maintains the right to edit and/or remove posts that violate its standard for publishing.

The Phillipian will reject posts containing:

  • off-topic, incoherent or inappropriate remarks
  • personal attacks, threats or foul language (including expletives and letters followed by dashes)
  • advertisements or other spam
  • impersonations

As long as posts are not off topic and not abusive or damaging, they will remain as submitted. Our decisions are subjective.

All posts on phillipian.net must follow the guidelines as prescribed by the Phillips Academy Technology Acceptable Use Policy, explained in “The Blue Book.”
