2024 Golden Globes: Best and Worst Dressed

Margot Robbie stuns in Barbie-inspired gown.

BEST:

Jennifer Lopez

Jennifer Lopez takes on the Golden Globes with a new type of look. Almost fairy-like, Lopez stuns with a pink custom Nicole + Felicia Couture gown and greets the red carpet with her extensive rose-embellished sleeves. This floral feature adds texture to her overall outfit, showcasing a unique silhouette. Matching her satin dress is a blush-pink clutch at her side.

Margot Robbie

“Barbie” actress Margot Robbie resembles a disco ball as she dons a neon-pink sequin dress from Giorgio Armani, which has a plunging V-shaped neckline and off-shoulder tulle sleeves. Her attire resembles previous outfits she wore during the “Barbie” press tour but with some extra flare and confidence.

Andra Day

Andra Day walks the red carpet in a one-shoulder dress from the vintage Georges Chakra collection. The outfit includes black flower accents which both complement and contrast the Golden Globes’ backdrop of pastel flowers. She matches the dress with silver chunky jewelry, such as a bracelet, ring, and earrings, adding a nice touch to the outfit.

Meryl Streep

Meryl Streep’s androgynous outfit echoes the eccentric business attire of Miranda Priestly, whom she played in “The Devil Wears Prada.” The skirt and blazer combo glisten with the camera flashes. Instead of the usual button-up, the white shirt is tied up in the front with a sash. She accentuates her elegant and sophisticated style with a pair of sunglasses and a reflective purse.

Lenny Kravitz

It was clear Lenny Kravitz put a lot of thought into his suit. He focuses on creating a unique silhouette through a satin Alexander McQueen suit with a cinched waist and bold cutouts. The top half is tight, in contrast to the wide-legged pants at the bottom. He exposes his chest tattoos and adds pointed-toe shoes as a finishing touch.

WORST:

Selena Gomez

Honestly, when I first saw Selena Gomez’s Armani Privè gown, I thought it looked nice, and then, I zoomed out. The top looks decent but the entire bottom is confusing. She has a black belt around her waist which disconnects the bottom from the top. Apart from that, the texture of the gown looks cheap and resembles bundles of nylon plastic ropes.

Natasha Lyonne

Natasha Lyonne’s outfit looks like a white piñata. The tassels attached to the Maison Schiaparelli gown look more like a bunch of small paper strands, while the “sculptural” top part perches precariously on a loose-fitting bodice. The tailoring is also rough and seems unfinished. Overall, the gown looks too ugly to be called a surreal art piece and is the definition of trying too hard.

Barry Keoghan

“Saltburn” actor Barry Keoghan’s suit was a failed attempt to break the status quo. He leans into the punk rock aesthetic of the widely popular black comedy with a red plaid suit from Louis Vuitton. However, checkers on top of checkers seem unnecessary and overwhelming. It made the jacket appear a few shades darker than the pants. His jewelry is also messy and nonsensical. He is practically decked out for an “Alice in Wonderland” and Exeter Geek Day crossover.
