Eva Toffoloni Selected for All-American Field Hockey Team

Andover Field Hockey Captain Eva Toffoloni ’15 was selected last week to the All-American Field Hockey team by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA). Toffoloni, Andover’s single-season and all-time leading scorer, spearheaded a 15-0-1 regular season this past fall.

The NFHCA annually selects 47 players to the All-American team from public and private institutions all around the country.

Toffoloni was truly humbled by the selection.

“This honor means a great deal and I’m still amazed that I was able to receive this. I loved representing Phillips Academy for four years. [Andover Field Hockey] has changed me as a player and as a person. This honor just adds to the impact field hockey and this team has had on me,” said Toffoloni.

The All-American selection process begins with a player being selected to the All-Region team. Toffoloni was voted to the Massachusetts All-Region team in early December, but the next step of being chosen as an All-American never crossed her mind.

“As a freshman I had heard about the concept of [an] All-American and viewed it as some unattainable achievement. I was so excited when I was nominated for the All-Region team and never imagined being selected to be an All-American the week after,” said Toffoloni.

After scoring 26 goals through her first three seasons at Andover, Toffoloni nearly doubled her scoring output in her Senior year, scoring 23 goals. Her 23 regular season goals and 49 career goals are both Andover records.

In addition these achievements, Toffoloni will attend Yale University with her two sisters, Katerina Toffoloni ’15 and Nikoletta Toffoloni ’15, where the three siblings will continue playing Field Hockey competitively.

Eva Toffoloni said, “I have loved every minute that I have played for [Andover Field Hockey] and this season especially will have a lasting impression on me. This honor inspires me to keep working hard and keep trying my best every time I step onto the turf.”
