Co-Captain Flynn ’10 Continues Undefeated Streak with Victory

Andover’s Girls Varsity Tennis team went head to head against arch rival Exeter on Wednesday. The team’s 8-1 win was flawless with the exception of a close three-set singles loss. Highlights of the match included Co-Captain Eliza Flynn ’10 win in a quick and easy two sets, 6-0, 6-0, which kept her undefeated season at number one singles alive. Fellow Co-Captain Lauren Wilmarth ’09 finished her match early as well, winning 6-0, 6-3. With the win, Andover improved to 10-1 as the team prepares to enter the NEPSAC tournament this Saturday. “All in all, I think [it] was a great way to finish our last match,” said Co-Captain Wilmarth. “We finished strong, and I feel like we are now ready for Interschols this Saturday. I am confident and am looking forward to seeing what our team will be able to accomplish.” After two grueling hours of play, Greta Rossi ’09 also won her match at number three singles. She stayed determined and physically strong throughout her entire match, even into the third set, where she finally took hold of the victory. In number four singles was Elizabeth Kelly ’11, who successfully had a strong hold over Exeter’s team captain for two sets. Despite a 12-game first set, Andover came out with a win, 7-5 and 6-1. The two completely swept every game of the first two sets, 6-0, 6-0. In position two on doubles, Carolyn Brown ’09 and Emelyn Chew ’10 came together in the one of the longest matches of the day. After losing the first set, 6-7, they came back decided and strong in the next two sets, winning the match with scores of 6-3 and 7-5.
