With less than three minutes left in Andover’s intense match-up against St.Paul’s School, Co-Captain Britney Van Valkenburg ’08 made an excellent interception in the defensive zone and passed to Dana Feeny ’08, who scored a well-placed shot to put Andover ahead, 6-5. Feeny’s goal helped Andover break away from St. Paul’s and close out a 12-7 win. Emily Little ’09 won the draw at the start of the game to gain possession for Andover. Andover settled into offense, and Little cut in front of the goal to catch a quick pass and score. Lisa Lian ’08 and Little scored the next two goals respectively to put Andover ahead early in the game. The second half started with Andover winning two consecutive draws. This led to two quick goals by Feeny. Coming back after its losses against Nobles and Deerfield, Andover concentrated on winning each face off. Summer Washburn ’11 scored to keep Andover’s momentum and lead at 9-6. Little scored again in the second half, fighting to pull Andover ahead after St. Paul’s seventh goal. Alissa Fromkin ’09 ended the game with two more goals, making the score 12-7. Fromkin, Little, and Feeny contributed to the offense, each scoring, as Andover dominated in its transitions, connecting on passes out of the defensive zone and even breaking down St. Paul’s fast breaks. Kaitlin Gaiss ’09 played a strong game in goal, leading the defense with Co-Captain Jen Downing ’08. On Friday against Pingree, Gaiss had an outstanding game, with fifteen saves and only six goals against. Andover capitalized on its first few offensive opportunities with goals from Little and Feeny and Fromkin, but could not completely shut down Pingree’s forwards. Fromkin scored three times at the start of the second half, capitalizing on three more fast breaks and pulling Andover ahead to 8-4. Pingree slipped in two goals past Gaiss, but Andover responded with goals by Katherine Sherrill ’10 and Nancy Ann Little ’08.
