Girls Lacrosse Dominates Draw Against Choate and NMH

The Girls Lacrosse team shares a warm hug after securing its victory.

Saturday 4/20 – Andover: 15, Choate: 6
Wednesday 4/24 – Andover: 15, NMH: 5

Girls Lacrosse (7-2) dominated in its games against Choate and Northfield Mount Hermon (NMH) this past week. The team implemented new plays and defensive schemes in practice during the week and had big performances from key players in preparation for a tough game against Dexter this Friday.

Lucy Parker ’26 mentioned how Shea Freda ’24 hit a big milestone of 300 draw wins and stood out in both the Choate and NMH games at the draw. She also highlighted the draw as a general strength of the team.

“Shea stood out. She got her 300th draw win in the Choate game, and that was definitely a huge milestone for her. But also for everyone else, allowing her to come up with those draws. To allow her to achieve that was definitely huge. Against NMH, I think we had a very good, strong draw percentage. So that’s definitely impactful for a game,” said Parker.

Lola Aguirre ’26 spoke on how the team worked on transition and defense in preparation for the game against NMH.

“Leading up to the game against NMH. We worked on shooting and our backer defense, as well as playing as a team through things like slow breaks, fast breaks, transition, and especially in defense,” said Aguirre.

Quiana Bell ’26 shouted out Ellie Parker ’25 as someone who stood out in the game against NMH despite the fact she just came back from an ACL injury last year. Bell mentioned how Parker applies herself in all aspects of the game.

“She’s just coming back from an ACL injury last year. So this has been her first couple of games back out there. And I feel like she’s done a really good job just stepping into more of a leadership role out there. She’s always hustling back on defense. She’s passing the ball, doing assists, getting goals. So I feel like she just has a really strong presence despite it being her first time coming back,” said Bell.

In practice leading up to the NMH game, the team split up into defense and offense. The defense worked on zone defense while the offense worked on certain plays to run in specific situations that may arise in a game.

“We worked a lot, in our last couple practices, splitting up the team into offense and defense and the offense has been working a lot on our plays and running those situations and where we would run them and figuring out how to transition into those plays and how to utilize like our fast break and slow break opportunities And in the defense we’ve been working a lot on a backer which is basically where it’s a zone defense and there’s always a double on the ball,” said Bell.

On Friday, Girls Lacrosse will play Dexter Southfield.
