Andover Slices Up Exeter

Last week, the girls varsity tennis team defeatd BB&N for the second time this season with a 6-1 victory. As a second match last week, the team faced off against rival Exeter. They came up huge with their second win in two days when they trampled the Big Red by an 8-1 margin.

This week’s match against Milton ended in success. The team came out with a score of 8-5. After the first 4 singles matches, the two teams were tied with four points each. Andover went on to win four of the last five sets, each worth a point, to secure the victory.

Stacia Vladimirova ’11 won her match 6-2 6-3. MJ Engel ‘13 and Charlotte Aaron ‘14 each beat their respective opponents with a score of 6-2. Elizabeth Kelly ’11 defeated her opponent and only dropped one game en route to a 6-1, 6-0 win.

Coach Deborah Chase said, “We had a great match against a very strong Milton team today. It was our most competitive match of the season and we came out on top 8-5.”

Elizabeth Kelly said, “Coming through with the win when we were so close at the start meant a lot to the team as a whole.”

The team looks forward to defending their undefeated record with a home match against Loomis Chaffee this coming Saturday.
