Boys in Blue Take a Close One, Beating Lowell With Relay Win

You could not have dreamed up a more exciting end to the boy’s track meet last Saturday. Competing against Chelmsford High School and Lowell High School, Andover was tied with Lowell High School going into the last event, the 4 x 400 relay. As exciting as the relay race was, the meet could have been decided by any event. Andover put all the pieces together, with each runner, jumper and thrower combining for a huge victory. Piotr Brzezinski ’03 was Andover’s first hero of the day, winning a tight mile. Brzezinski stuck behind a Lowell runner until about a quarter mile to go, when he decided to take the lead. He never looked back. Chris Donais ’05, finished in a time of 4:50.6, about 8 seconds behind Brzezinski, to place third. Both Lee Ratigan ’03 and O’Shea Galan ’04 did double duty on Saturday. Rattigan took first in the 50 with a time of 5.6 seconds and Galan followed in third. In the 300, Rattigan and Galan finished first and second with times of 35.6 and 35.7 seconds, respectively. In the shot put, Anwell Lanfranco ’04 was the only Andover thrower to place. Lanfranco’s mark of 48′ 2 1/2
