Spring might mean warmer weather, but for students at Andover, it also means new trends and essential items to make it through the term. From oversized water bottles to sleek sneakers, wired headphones to suede jackets, these essentials are more than just items, they are small comforts that motivate and excite students through long days, sunny weather, and everything the season brings.

“My essential [spring] item is my water bottle, it’s really big and holds up to a gallon. It’s blue and has a handle. My water bottle is essential for me because I have this goal to drink two gallons per day. It’s nice because my bottle helps me keep track of how much I have drunk and how much more I should drink. It’s also always nicer to have a bigger water bottle because then I don’t have to refill it as much… My favorite part [of my water bottle is] the handle. It makes it much easier for me to drink from the bottle. It’s also like bougie because not a lot of water bottles have handles like this one.”

“My essential item [is] my pink Onitsuka Tigers. The pink is very spring-y, and it’s the perfect shoe to pair with any outfit. It definitely adds just the right amount of pop of color. I like Onitsuka Tigers because the Japanese design is super cool, and I think it’s very modern while still being very sleek. [Also] wearing Onitsuka Tigers feels just like wearing slippers. The shape is just really unique and I love the way the shoes fit. What I like most about my shoes are the baby pink on the sides with the Onitsuka Tiger classic logo. I think it’s really cute. The flap at the back of the shoe is also really cute.”

“My essential item during the spring is definitely my coat. I know that it gets really warm towards the end of the year, but during early spring term it’s still pretty chilly, and my little light spring coat is perfect for the weather. It’s like a hunting jacket, so it’s very Queen Elizabeth-esque when she goes hunting, but it’s made of this trench coat material with like suede brown collars. I love it because I can just put it on over anything I wear. It doesn’t look very warm, but it has a double lining and the inner lining I can actually take out and so it’s really nice if I want a lighter coat when it’s warmer or a more heavy coat for the colder days. It’s very trench coat button to the top, if you know you know.”

“My headphones are my essential item during the spring. They’re the normal Apple-wired headphones that you can buy that just plug into your phone. [Headphones] have always been an essential for me, but especially in the spring, I feel like if you’re spending a lot of time outside, it’s always better with some music. Also when it’s rainy outside or the weather’s bad, music always makes it better. I have AirPods but I lost the charger for them, so I’ve been using these wired headphones for a while. [Also] I used to always have this horrible feeling when I woke up and saw my AirPods dead so using wired headphones is just easier to maintain.”
