Andover 1984

Dearest Diary,

The current year, 1984, appeareth to be incredibly bleak, but I have reason to believe that life at Andover will improve, at least by 2015.

Though this may seem outlandish and absurd, I think that, in the future, women will finally be more dominant among the men of Andover.

I think this might lead to a campus environment in which intelligent things are discussed…everywhere!!

I feel that this bigger, better, brighter, bluer Andover will be a great example of justice, learning, freedom and righteousness for the rest of the teenagers of America. Soon, teenagers everywhere will all be as thirsty as we are! For knowledge!

Forgive me if this seems a little out there, but I think that admitting students based solely upon merit is slightly outdated (if you can even get more outdated than 1984). I think that kindness will someday be a factor that contributes to the application process.

The admissions board seems satisfied that all Andover students are sufficiently big and extremely blue, but there still remains a question of their nicety. This new idea will ensure that not a single mean person crosseth the Paresky Commons threshold, with the exception of the teachers of course.

My vision of the future – a perfect Andover – also includes the implementation of a seven-period schedule system. Students will relish the opportunity to experience every. single. class… three days a week!

Finally, I think that the Andover of the future will never have a want for activities on the weekend! I think that there will be dances where girls and boys will create bonds that could lead to more connections and jobs for our graduates.

The weekends will never be dreaded for being extremely boring, but instead, they will be highly anticipated and extremely fun!

I also feel as if a dance in the science center would be a great idea because the model solar system would look beautiful at night.

This is my last year as a student at Andover, and I hope that someday this diary will be discovered so that my ideas can be implemented. The Andover of my imagination is a utopia that every student should be able to experience. My only regret is that my ideas may be too out-of-the-box to ever be accepted.
