Andover Sweeps BB&N 5-0; Captain Jebsen Wins at Number 2

Powered by a dominating straight sets victory by Trey Meyer ’09 at first singles, Andover cruised to a season-opening win over BB&N. After the shutout win, the Boys Tennis team heads into the spring season confident in its abilities and motivated to make a championship run. Against BB&N, the team won doubles matches at both the number two and three spots. Andrew Chan ’08 and Tony Zou ’09 played at the number two spot. Jin Won Lee ’08 and Andy West ’08 played at number three. Competing at number one doubles were Meyer and Captain Foster Jebsen ’08. The doubles match finished incomplete since their teammates had already secured wins at the number two and three spots. In singles, Meyer played at the number one spot and won in two easy sets. At number two, Captain Jebsen won his first set 6-3 and his second 6-1, securing a victory. Chan defeated his BB&N opponent in two sets also, winning 6-3 and 6-1. Playing at number 5, Zou won 6-4 in his first match and 6-1 in his second. Both West and Lee did not finish their singles matches, since the team had already secured the win. This year the Boys Tennis team has a busy schedule, playing skilled teams such as NMH, Exeter, St. Paul’s and Choate. On Friday, Andover will travel to Belmont Hill, and on Saturday the team will face another formidable opponent at home in Taft.
