Co-Captain Jaeden Morgan ’28 Brings the Energy to Boys Soccer

Jaeden Morgan ’28 plays center back and serves as Co-Captain of Boys Soccer. Morgan began playing soccer in Jamaica; although he said he was not initially the strongest player, his friends played an important role in his development.

“I was just a regular guy. But then, after eighth grade, because my friends were getting better, I had to keep up,” said Morgan.

Morgan described himself both as a player and a leader.

“In terms of my position, I’m a composed, technical, ball-playing center back who communicates, organizes the defense around and the rest of the field,” said Morgan. “As a leader, I’d say I’m not afraid to tell people what’s going on. Like, I am your best friend when everything’s going well, but if you’re in a bad situation, I’ll tell you what’s real.”

Christopher Lee ’27 described Morgan as a passionate and caring leader, and discussed Morgan’s willingness to hold teammates accountable while still helping them understand how they can improve.

“He’s not afraid to call you out on the pitch, which is a good thing. He’ll explain it to you,” said Lee. “He also can rally a lot of people around, he makes sure it’s not an all-serious type of game… But he’s serious when he needs to be. And when [it’s] game time, he does not mess around.”

Lee also pointed to Morgan’s confidence as one of his strongest qualities as a leader.

“He’s very strong, very confident too,” said Lee. “He does not falter.”

Adam Sealfon ’29 described Morgan as a focused, technical, and precise player.

“He keeps a solid check, especially [on] myself, conversing with me about what decisions to make during the game. Off the pitch, he is funny, but also a classy guy, which reflects on his attitude as [Co-Captain],” said Sealfon.

Morgan currently plays club soccer at the MLS NEXT level and hopes to play Division I soccer in college. He also discussed his goals for the season.

“Recruiting’s going well, so hopefully by Spring term, I should be settling into that,” said Morgan. “My only goal for this season is to have fun. Enjoy the time with my teammates.”
