Hey Mom, just arrived in the dorm. They accepted too many students this year to hit the diversity requirements, so there aren’t enough beds. I promised my roommate that I would do all his dorm chores if he let me get the bed, so he set up in the closet.
9/2 – 7:27 p.m.
Hi Mom, I met all my dormmates. A bunch of them are 18-year-old double repeat recruits, and one of them has a kid? Apparently the Football Team is having some trouble, so they desperately need new players. My prefects tell me we’re definitely going to lose to Exeter this year, but hopefully the new Director of Football Operations will fix this next year.
9/5 – 11:59 p.m.
Mom, I’m worried cuz all of the other kids are spending most of their time studying for the SAT. U said I wouldn’t have to worry about that until Junior — sry I mean Upper — year, and im getting nervous. Pls respond.
9/10 – 2:38 a.m.
Hi Mom, I put some food in the fridge, and when I came back two minutes later it was gone, so ig I’ll go check out Paresky. Apparently they have Salisbury steak today, and I love steak, so I bet I’m going to love it!
9/11 – 6:39 p.m.
Hey Mom, can you please respond? I just had a dorm meeting and went over the rules for 15 minutes, and then we had a two-hour-long talk abt smth called EBI. We mostly learned to say nice things to people and not be mean. It kind of reminded me of circle time in first grade.
9/14 – 1:00 a.m.
Hi Mom, about to go to bed. We had a fire drill, so we just stood outside for a couple of minutes and I haven’t been able to hear anything since then. Also, the bathrooms here kind of look like the gas station we used on the way here. Are you ever gonna come visit?
9/14 – 5:49 a.m.
Mom I’m so tired. My roommate stayed up until 4 a.m. studying for the SAT, and needed to keep all the lights on for a “focused environment.” The good news is I know my hearing came back because I woke up to his 5:30 a.m. alarm. He slept right through it and kept the closet locked so I couldn’t get him to turn it off.
9/17 – 10:21 p.m.
Hey mom, when I got back to the dorm today I fell straight asleep and didn’t leave my room the entire night. Anyways, I got one strike for missing initial sign in, another for missing final, and a third strike “just for fun???” I have Friday night restrictions now, which is the only time the school organizes anything.
