A Final Push For the Lower Boats

The lower boats for both Boys and Girls Crew went for their last row of the season on May 17. The teams faced Deerfield and Belmont Hill, with Andover’s Boat 4 (B4) finishing on top in both the boys’ and girls’ races.

Thiago Jollon ’27 noted the growth of the lower boats throughout the season. He added that his boat beat Deerfield’s boat, despite losing by a wide margin earlier in the season.

“We wanted to win. Deerfield has one of the best rowing programs in the nation. Earlier in the season, we raced them, and they beat us by a lot. We wanted to win, and in the end, B4 did that for us. They were great opponents,” said Jollon.

Among the Boat 6 (B6) members, Kachi Ikekpeazu ’27 had an excellent performance. Jollon praised him for his energy and determination.

“The entire boat was really pushing, and everyone was working hard together. I would like to shout out Kachi. He was a motivating force, getting the boys going and getting hyped. We had to race twice, and we beat our time in the second race compared to the first, which shows how motivated we are, and that’s a testament to the leadership in the boat,” said Jollon.
