Boys Lacrosse Bounces Back Against Holderness after a Tough Loss Against Choate

4/19 – Andover: 5, Choate: 12

4/23 – Andover: 14, Holderness: 10

Boys Lacrosse (7–2) faced a tough setback on Saturday in a loss to Choate, falling behind in the second half after a competitive and evenly matched start. Rebounding quickly, the team returned from the long weekend with renewed energy and focus. On Wednesday, it delivered a dominant performance against Holderness, which had bested Andover in both of its two previous matchups.

After returning from the long weekend, Boys Lacrosse had just one practice to prepare for its midweek matchup against Holderness. Despite the limited time, the team entered the game with focus and urgency, translating their hard work into a commanding performance.

“We only had one practice to get everything in line for the Holderness game. That just meant that we had to work hard and that’s what we did. It clearly showed that it all paid off. For that one practice, we just knew that we needed to win, so we just tried our best and it all worked out,” said Jefferey Lim ’27.

The team saw significant improvements on the offensive end in its bounce-back win over Holderness. Co-Captain Maxwell Herbison ’25 emphasized the offensive and transitional adjustments that helped the team capitalize more on offensive opportunities. “On offense, we moved the ball a lot better and the switches that we made from attack to mid really helped in the transition game. That helped our ride percentage,” said Herbison.

Co-Captain Jack Frischmann ’25 played a central role in the team’s success, leading with composure and intensity from the opening whistle. Jefferey Lim ’27 highlighted Frischmann’s impact as both a player and a leader.“Our [Co-]Captain Jack Frischmann played really well. Right out of the box, he just got rolling and he kept us really composed as a captain,” said Lim.

Frischmann, according to Herbison, capitalized on several key matchups and opportunities throughout the game, ultimately accumulating five goals.

“He got a lot of good matchups and a lot of great opportunities. He ended up with five goals,” added Herbison.

Lim also highlighted Dimnaku for his performance and an all around excellent game when it came to winning possession for his team at the face-off.

“I also want to highlight Alex Dimnaku on the face-off. He was just a really good teammate and player, especially going up against older guys that have a lot of experience. He played really well, especially today. He’s obviously one of the guys that kept us in the game and brought us to win,” said Lim.

Boys Lacrosse will play Deerfield on Saturday and New Hampton on Wednesday.
