Spring Sports’ Preseason Trips

All-Gender Golf: Co-Captain Heyon Choi ’25

“The 2025 spring golf preseason was phenomenal. Though our trip was only four days, ten selected players, including myself, played four rounds of 18 holes, including a nine-hole par three course––The Cradle––at Pinehurst Country Club in North Carolina. Pinehurst has hosted multiple major championships, and for high schoolers to be playing on such high-quality courses that carry this kind of legacy is truly an honor. Pinehurst gave us an opportunity to play incredible golf and bond with new teammates. As a four-year member of the golf team and Co-captain since last year, I see this trip as one of the best opportunities the Andover golf team has had during my time. This would not have been possible without the incredible coordination of our head coach, Mr. [Brian] Faulk, and the enthusiasm of a fresh team this year. The Andover golf team starts its season off strong!”

Boys and Girls Tennis: Jeff Shen ’26

“Our preseason trip was really what the team needed to kickstart this season; a week of focused, driven tennis in the Florida sun definitely set the tone for our upcoming matches. At the Saddlebrook Tennis Academy, we were fortunate to be trained by some extremely talented coaches, and also compete with some of their full-time academy kids from around the world. More than anything, the trip helped rebuild the bond between teammates that was so central to our success last year.”

Boys Baseball: Rishi Rane ’25

“Our preseason trip is in Florida and it is always a great mix of baseball and team bonding. We played a ton of games and were able to get on the field for the first time and use everything we practiced this winter. Outside of the actual games, we were able to spend time with teammates at team dinners, in the hot tubs, and at the beach. Overall, it was a great time, and every player will tell you that Florida is their favorite part of the season.”

Boys and Girls Crew: Will Trainor ’25

“The crew team improved a lot over the span of the trip but more importantly, we built a lot of team culture through sharing team meals and doing difficult workouts together which will lead us pretty far this season. We also had the great opportunity to learn more about Texas culture after visiting a rodeo.”

Boys Lacrosse: Co-Captain Jensen Kohler ’25

“For our spring break training the boys lacrosse team went to Naples, Florida. Our trip was 5 days long and we went to a training camp that many other girls and boys lacrosse teams attended. We had two practices each day, and two scrimmages spaced out over the week we were there. It was great to get to know everyone on the team better and improve our chemistry. We even had the chance to go to the beach and enjoy the warm weather off the field. Overall it was a great experience and I feel the team capitalized on the opportunity to grow closer.”
