Victorious Start

**Andover (W): 8-4**

St. John’s didn’t stand a chance, considering Andover’s dominance on the hill and its prowess in the batter’s box.

Matt Hosman ’15 ripped a single over the opposing shortstop’s head to jump-start a three-run first inning, setting the tone for Andover’s 8-4 scrimmage victory over St. John’s Prep last Saturday. By the seventh inning, Andover led 7-0. Payton Jancsy ’16 highlighted the rampage by scoring two runs in an aggressive offensive performance.

As players predicted before the season, Andover relied on its pitching staff to carry the team to victory. Andrew Hamel ’14 and Thomas Lane ’15 pitched a combined six scoreless innings and powered through St. John’s lineup. Andover plays its first regular season game at home against Bridgton Academy on Saturday.
