A/E Weekend
Held near the end of the Fall Term, Andover/Exeter Weekend is full of excitement, spirit and sports! Taking place at Exeter this year, the Fall Andover/Exeter Weekend will be a chance to show support for our athletic teams by dressing in blue, putting on face paint and cheering our hearts out. Student Activities offers free fan buses to Exeter that come back in time for the Sadie Hawkins Dance.
Quad Day
What better way to spend a sunny, late September Sunday than with good food and good company in the lively Quads? Just as in previous years, West Quad South and West Quad North clusters will be joining forces to bring one of the more boisterous outdoor events of Fall term. Every dorm in both clusters will be holding food and games booths to raise money for dorm outings, munches and apparel. Students and faculty are often spotted enjoying games like human foosball or frisbee while indulging in delicious Johnson Hall dumplings or Eaton Cottage caramel apples. Quad Day is a fun, relaxing way to unwind and show some cluster pride!
Exeter Geek Day
Exeter Geek Day is a chance to show your Big Blue spirit before Andover/Exeter Weekend. During this beloved tradition, students dress in red from head to toe, often donning nerdy wide-framed glasses, calculators, suspenders and other paraphernalia (the more bizarre, the better). It’s a good-natured way to make fun of our rival school while getting pumped for the always-energetic Andover/Exeter Weekend.
International Fest
Immerse yourself in Andover’s diversity by going to International Fest, a food bazaar and talent show affectionately known as iFest. Hosted annually by International Club, iFest always attracts large crowds of students and faculty alike, even visitors from neighboring schools. At the food bazaar, you will have the opportunity to sample mouth-watering delicacies like Filipino empanadas and French madeleines. The bazaar will be followed by a talent and fashion show where students take to the stage with creative dances, music performances and international fashions.
Grasshopper Night
Always a crowd pleaser, Grasshopper Night is the most anticipated talent show of the school year. Individual student performers and members of music, dance and performance groups will showcase a variety of skits, songs and dances. This year’s performers will be displaying their talents in performances based on the theme “Imagination.” Grasshopper Night is held during Parents’ Weekend and tickets are free! But they run out quickly, so be sure to sign up early.
Club Rally
One of the most exciting and anticipated events on campus, the Club Rally is known for its overwhelming student energy. Dozens of clubs on campus will set up booths in front of Paresky Commons with sign-up sheets for new members. Attending the club rally is a must, especially for new students. It will be a good opportunity to join the many clubs on campus and witness Andover’s infectious school spirit. This year’s Club Rally will be held on Sunday afternoon instead of the usual Friday evening due to Yom Kippur celebrations.
Sadie Hawkins
One of the two semi-formal dances of the year, Sadie Hawkins is a girl-ask-guy dance that always attracts crowds. Many students love to come up with creative ways to ask! Last year, one girl spelt out “Sadie?” on a batch of cupcakes and delivered them to her boyfriend’s dorm. But don’t worry too much about the preparation—having fun is the most important part. Held on the Saturday night of Andover-Exeter Weekend, the Sadie Hawkins Dance is a great way to have fun after a long day of cheering for Andover sports teams. In previous years, proceeds from ticket sales have gone to support Oxfam International, a nonprofit organization dedicated to finding solutions to poverty and related social issues around the globe.
