Boys Lacrosse Dominates NMH and Beats Proctor in Double Overtime to Continue Winning Start

Boys Lacrosse (4-1) destroyed Northfield Mount Hermon (NMH) 17-5 on Saturday before coming from behind to secure a thrilling double overtime win against Proctor, 11-10, on Wednesday. High-scoring games have been a hallmark of the team’s explosive start to the season, with the team reaching double digits in all of their games.

Sam Whitehurst PG ’25, committed to play college Lacrosse at Boston University,  scored four goals in the demolition of NMH and assisted five times to help put the game out of reach before the first half even came to a close. In the second half, with the team already up 16-1, some players who typically get less playing time were given a chance to shine.

Against Proctor the team started off slow and in the first half conceded seven goals with most of those coming in transition. With the offense off to a slow start only scoring five goals in the first half the team was down going into halftime. However, in the second half the team gained momentum and slowly started chipping away at that two goal deficit it had going into halftime. With just 20 seconds left to go in the game and the team still down one goal, Co-Captain Jack Frischmann laced the top corner of the goal with a shot while falling down to tie the game and send it to overtime. In overtime, with help from Alex Dimnaku ’27, the team was able to gain possession and finally find an opening in Proctor’s zone defense for Whitehurst to end the game.

Freshman Luke Honos ’28 testified to the team’s ability to work together.

“Our biggest strength was our ability to work as a team and fight back after being down,” said Honos.

Boys Lacrosse faces off against Cushing at home on Friday.
