With less than five seconds left in the first half versus Northfield Mount Hermon (NMH), Lexi Davidson ’17 fed the ball into the circle, where Eva Toffoloni ’15 passed to Julia Marcus ’15, who banged it home to secure a 3-1 win.

Andover dominated NMH, outshooting the opposing team 13-3, with 21 offensive corners to NMH’s three.

While holding its opponent to one shot in the first half, Andover capitalized on two of its eight shots. Eva Toffoloni started off the scoring with 8:54 left in the first half off a rebound from the slot, followed by Marcus’s goal.

“It felt good to finally be able to contribute. Eva fired the pass to me backdoor and I was able to bury it low right side,” said Marcus.

Thirteen minutes into the second half, NMH was able to bring the game within one off a backdoor goal, but less than two minutes later Eva

Toffoloni was able to convert on a scramble in front of the goal to put Andover back up by two.

“After facing a few bumps in the road, we have been able to get better exponentially each and every single game in terms of hustle and heart. This game was a great example of how we were able to play all 60 minutes,” said Kelly McCarthy ’16.

Andover built off of its decisive win this Wednesday when it faced BB&N at home. Despite having a slow start, the team was able to string together a positive end to the first half and an even more encouraging start to the second.

“Eva, Kat [Toffoloni ’15] and [Nikoletta] Toffoloni [’15] attended BB&N growing up, and it was important for them to win. Because it was important for them, it was important for us. We stuck together as a team, and were able to fight back and win,” said Davidson.

Andover fell behind early 1-0, but was not deterred.

Less than ten minutes after BB&N’s first goal, Nikoletta Toffoloni lined up on a corner and moved the ball out to Davidson, who fired the ball on net. Eliza Quigley ’15 then swooped in for the rebound and was able to put one that trickled through the goalie’s legs where Nikoletta Toffoloni was waiting to score the loose ball.

After tying it up 1-1 at the half, Andover began to build momentum.

Andover shut out BB&N in the second half, only allowing three shots as a result of excellent goaltending and stonewall defense.

The go-ahead goal was scored by Eva Toffoloni as she dodged two BB&N defenders and fired one past the goalkeeper.

“Eva is fantastic. She never fails to bring her A game. Some of the things she is able to do [are] unbelievable—this was one of her many amazing goals,” said Beth Krikorian ’17.

With under ten minutes left in the game, Eva Toffoloni sealed the deal for Andover by scoring the third and final goal of the game.

“These next few games are very important. One more win and we are in the double digit column which would be huge,” said McCarthy.

For the last eight games, Andover has been 7-0-1 and looks to build off of this winning streak against Deerfield this Saturday.
