Despite a strong season, Andover Girls JV Basketballlost 24-33 to Exeter on Saturday to close out its season with a 4-4 record. “We were doing a great job of keeping up with them in the first half, unfortunately they really pulled ahead in the second. However, a number of our people had some great moments and Coach Holley was very happy with us,” said Ellie Blum ’15. “The game was close, but they broke away a little during the second half, and we couldn’t get it back,” added Annette Bell ’16. Bell got a concussion during the game on Saturday. “It was a rough game, but we fought really hard, and it was tied up for most of [the game],” said Isabella Berkley ’15. Earlier in the season, the girls overcame Exeter 34-31 in a game at Andover, so the loss was especially disappointing. “We played well, and it was a close game, and it was a very physical game. Our energy level was low, and none of our shots were going in. We were just a little off,” added Taryn Gangi ’16. The girls have played well throughout the season, however, beating tough teams like Thayer and Governor’s Academy. The team, a mix of Juniors, Lowers and Uppers, hopes to improve its record next season.
