Softball Ends Season with Sweep Over Exeter in Double-Header

Andover’s five Seniors combined for nine hits and five runs batted in during the opening game of this year’s Andover-Exeter double-header on Saturday, leading Andover to a 13-8 victory. In the second game, Veda Eswarappa ’08 hurled a complete game and tallied six strikeouts to help Andover finish off the season with a sweep. Andover carried its momentum from the Big East Tournament into the Exeter contest, getting contributions from every part of its lineup as the team totaled 13 runs. Seniors Emily Cokorinos ’08, Nicole Duddy ’08, Captain Stephanie Clegg ’08 and Michelle Hollebeke ’08 stole the show in their final Andover- Exeter match-up. The true offensive explosion came from starting shortstop Sarah Boylan ’09, who pounded a home run and batted in three runs in the opening game to support starting pitcher Hollebeke, who picked up the win despite uncharacteristically allowing eight runs. The win brought Hollebeke’s season record to a remarkable 11-1. In the second game of the double-header, Boylan went deep twice and drove in eight runs.
