Despite standout efforts by Kourtney Diperno ’09 and Megan Robertson ’11, Andover fell short against Suffield Academy by a final of 34-51. Desperate to get back on track, Andover stepped up and came out on top in an overtime game against Buckingham Browne and Nichols. On Friday Andover hosted Suffield Academy for the first time this season. Coming off of two consecutive losses, Andover looked to get back on track with a victory. Andover came out strong in the first half, successfully containing the powerful Suffield offense. In the second half, the tables turned and Suffield came out even stronger. Suffield’s offense dominated the court, while Andover struggled to sink its shots. Acquiring a sizeable lead, Suffield took control of the game and never looked back, eventually handing Andover its third straight loss by a score of 34-51. There were a few high points in Andover’s loss, however. Once again Diperno was the high scorer for Andover with a stunning 14 points accompanied by an equally impressive 8 rebounds. After the loss, Andover found itself in the midst of a three game losing streak. On Wednesday, Andover faced BB&N. An evenly matched game, the two teams remained close throughout the majority of the game. Andover looked strong from the beginning, as the team certainly looked ready to match the competition. The second half featured an equally close half, with the teams remaining within reach of one another the entirety of the game. With the two teams deadlocked at the end of regulation, the game headed into an overtime period. In overtime, it was Andover’s turn to shine. The team was able to get a lead and play to its fullest potential. Outshining BB&N in overtime, Andover coming out on top by a decisive score of 78-65. There were several notable performances for Andover in this game. Among them were an astounding 24 point effort by Diperno and a 16 point performance by Annie McDonough ’09. Coming off of this overtime thriller, Andover hopes to keep rolling against Northfield Mount Hermon.
