GIRLS BASKETBALL

Trailing an aggressive and talented Deerfield team by 18-29 in the half, Andover Girls Basketball came back to win 48-40, thanks to baskets from Co-Captain Katie Kreider ’14 and three-point swishes from Sarah Humes ’16 and Co-Captain Kasey Hartung ’14. Encouraged and motivated by the many fans that came to the home game, Andover played hard defense in the second half while battling back Deerfield’s full court press. The team will take on Noble and Greenough away this Wednesday.

BOYS SWIMMING:

Andover Boys Swimming blew Northfield Mount Hermon (NMH) away 102-63 at its only home meet of the season. In the 200 Freestyle Relay, Michael Camarda ’14, David Cao ’14, Co-Captain Tim Wynter ’14 and Co-Captain Joe Faller ’14 broke the pool and school records with an impressive time of 1:27.41. 12 swimmers on the team set personal records in their individual events. Andover is looking to continue its success next Saturday at Deerfield.

GIRLS SWIMMING

Andover Girls Swimming dominated on home territory in its first and final home meet of the season, flushing Northfield Mount Hermon (NMH) out of the record book with a 102.5-72.5 victory and toppling a nine-year-old pool record set previously by an NMH swimmer. Danielle Liu ’14 claimed her fourth record this week in the 200 Individual Medley, leading the pack in Andover’s slew of first-place victories. Andover will take on Deerfield next Saturday.

BOYS HOCKEY

Andover Boys Hockey lost against Thayer on Friday by a score of 1-5. The boys bounced back, however, with a strong performance against Nobles on Saturday, scoring five times in the last two periods to seal the 8-4 victory. Assistant Captains Michael Kim ’14 and Michael Lata ’14 had two goals each. Andover now looks towards its next game against Winchendon on Wednesday.

GIRLS HOCKEY

Despite outshooting its opponent, Andover Girls Hockey lost to St. Mark’s 4-1 on Saturday. Andover could not break the 1-1 deadlock and eventually fell in the third period when St. Mark’s scored three goals. The team will travel to Cushing on Wednesday.

BOYS SQUASH

Andover Boys Squash dominated St. Mark’s with a 7-0 win on Saturday, outplaying its opponents at every position down the ladder. Collectively, the JV and Varsity team won all but one game, and almost every Andover player beat his opponent in no more than 3 games. Andover anticipates a greater challenge at its upcoming match against St. Paul’s.

GIRLS SQUASH

With emotions running high, Andover Girls Squash won decisively against rival Exeter, 6-1. In her final home match against Exeter, Co-Captain Adele Bernhard ’14 won her match from the number one position. As the only seniors on the team, she and Misha Hooda ’14 were given special shout-outs when the teams were introduced before the match by Coach Jenny Elliott. The team will take on Groton this Wednesday.

WRESTLING

Andover Wrestling struggled to find its footing in a quad meet against Belmont Hill, Loomis Chaffee and Roxbury Latin on Saturday. The team suffered a tough 0-3 loss despite overtime and double overtime victories from Charlie Talcott ’14 and James Palmer ’14 respectively. Andover will look to end its winless week this Wednesday against Worcester.

NORDIC

Inconvenienced by the lack of snow to practice on, Andover Nordic raced “classic style” for the first time since December on Wednesday at Holderness. The boys placed seventh of ten and the girls placed fifth of eight. Both girls and boys showed great individual improvement, with Daniel Lee ’14 advancing to 55th of 89 and Olivia LaMarche ’16 to 17th of 67, just 18 seconds behind Co-Captain Elana King-Nakaoka ’14. The team will race at St. Paul’s on Wednesday.
